I am of Italian/Polish heritage. I have been able to indulge my fondness for all things Italian through some of my career choices, roles in the hotel and leisure industry to working as a tour leader throughout Europe. I had a passion for this role that ruined me for any hope of a normal 9 to 5 life. For years I searched for something that would allow me to enjoy the company of others, take in the most magical scenic views and play to my strengths and the things I like doing best. Travel was the conduit for meeting my husband; an Australian. Martin opted to stay in London with me. Although I had a dream vision for our wedding, (you can get an idea of the scale I was after below) it was more low key with close family and friends. We had a bigger party when we made it over to Australia, bbq, pool, chocolate cake and wonderful weather. I think it was this that made me realise that there is a lot of choice out there to express our dreams particularly when it comes to weddings and special events. Tradition is wonderful but as times change so does our outlook to those important milestones in our lives, if we are going to do something then we should be able to do it in the way that will be most meaningful to us, that we will truly enjoy and if we are going to spend then let it be on something that will stay with us always. I'm happy to take the title of wedding planner as I feel it incorporates, coordinator, administrator, personal assistant, logistical planner, risk manager, budget tracker and occasionally mime artist when I don’t know the word in Italian.
There is definitely more to being a wedding planner than knowing a particular flower’s latin name. researching, negotiating and budget management skills ensure that any event can be managed accordingly. Its down to me to present options to match the brief and when I exceed it for my clients, then we are off to an amazing start. |
