I remember thinking – as I took this photo – this is my personal heaven to be sat in this very spot enjoying this view – the colours, the sky, the view of Marina di Lobra below, the aroma of a freshly made espresso and it is complete.
A very simple thing to do in an extraordinary place. I think I have found my Shangri La – a mythical place of exquisite beauty, wherever you look there is a view to take your breath away. This boutique hotel is where all the essential elements of an hotel blend with all indulgences, luxuries and the very best customer service delivered in a professional but not detached way.
On a beautiful April day I encountered the Art Hotel Villa Fiorella.
We were in this part of the world to visit the Art Hotel Villa Fiorella on behalf of one of our 2018 wedding couples. The hotel was suggested to them by one of their friends who will also be one of their wedding guests – he is by all accounts a fussy gentleman – he adored his stay with such a comment I was mentally prepared for a fantastic visit.
As we were in Italy for work we had a tight schedule – we booked our appointment for 11.30am only a short drive from our accommodation up the mountain away from buzzy Sorrento to the quaint and more sedate traditional Sorrentine town of Massa Lubrense. It is a pretty town without the commercial tourist groups. It has an air of exclusivity purely because of the absence of holidaymakers bumping into each other.
The Art Hotel Villa Fiorella is on Via Vincenzo Maggio as we pulled up Signor Carmine the hotel owner’s assistant was already waiting for us.
Nothing beats a smile, a firm handshake as a welcome greeting. We were then told that the owner of the hotel, Alberto Colonna wished to meet with us and to give us a personal tour of the hotel.
We started our tour with a visit to the pool and poolside bar – I am already enchanted!
Then up to the amazing skybar – imagine sophisticated canapés and lots of bubbles – my favourite as the view here is perfection
We were then treated to a visit to the modern restaurant, a spacious and airy structure perfectly positioned to enhance the view for all who will dine here.
The Olive tree garden which is simply the most charming place, everything about this natural space is the suited for an intimate symbolic ceremony surrounded by nature – I can see and hear heartfelt vows being exchanged – love in all forms resides here – it comes from the degree of care given to every aspect of the hotel.
For those of you who have not yet visited Campania and specifically the Sorrento peninsula and Amalfi Coast, the light and sky provides the most dramatic canvas – hour to hour, season to season. During the course of the day – especially the time leading to the sunset – the colour pallette and light are a photographer’s dream.
Our June wedding couple have taken exclusive use of the Terrazza Fiorella restaurant for their wedding party – we think their guests are going to enjoy this experience, culinary and visually.
There are 23 impeccable rooms – spacious white rooms designed for comfort – some of them have the bath positioned to solely to take in the pleasure of the view – almost as if a painted work of art.
What stands out in my personal opinion is that this recently refurbished hotel is oozing an experience stay, discrete, comfortable, sophisticated, somewhere and something that is going to leave a lasting impression.
Since our visit we have been following the hotel on instagram – seriously pop over and follow as you will not only be treated to the delights of the hotel and its surroundings but also the amazingly colourful, creative works of food art.
I seriously cannot wait for next year’s couple to do their pre-wedding visit in June this year where we have arranged their food tasting.
So happy to have made your acquaintance Art Hotel Villa Fiorella you are a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.
