How can we Help?
The story behind the wedding story – every couple has one – just like Ben and Melanie.
Getting to Know You!
Mr Accent Events and I met the fab couple in person in May, we were invited to their gorgeous home, a lovely end of terrace cottage in the large village of Sawston not far from Cambridge. I usually find myself hopping on a train heading for London – it made a pleasant change to grab the sunnies, windows down driving through the Cambridgeshire countryside. It was a sunny Sunday, perfect for an alfresco garden meeting.
Before this let’s go back to March and the initial email – asking about the possibility of an elope wedding and whether an early June wedding could be organised as they had booked their holiday to the Amalfi Coast.
Your style of Wedding
I do love an elope wedding and even though the email was short it was friendly so I found myself at that moment wanting to help this spontaneous anonymous couple. I wanted to keep the momentum going so I replied to say it was possible but the paperwork needed to begin within the next couple of weeks so the first thing was to decide where!
I found out later that the inquiry email was sent on a lazy morning while Ben was having a bit of the lie in – even Ben said it was not a serious request at the time until he got my reply, then it became a case of “it just got serious” as they were going to take the wedding planning fast track route to getting married in Italy.
I didn’t receive a reply during the next day so nudged Ben along knowing that with only 3 months to plan the priority was to confirm the date and time with one of the very busy Amalfi Coast Town Halls. We agreed to chat that evening this is when I got to hear the dream – a garden setting, high up, romantic and no fuss. There really was only one option – the pretty Principessa di Piemonte gardens in Ravello.
It was on this first call we chatted about their decision to elope and if they were prepared for the reaction to their decision on their return from Italy. Melanie mentioned that her Dad would like to walk her down the aisle so this was something they would rethink.
Oh, the Places You Will Go!
As I got to know them – I just knew they were a perfect match for Ravello – both Melanie and Ben are softly spoken, wonderfully relaxed and chilled – the early June date – which we managed to secure for them was just the right side of the main tourist season when Ravello still belonged to the residents.
For couples like Ben & Melanie who opt for a quiet wedding it’s the perfect time when the enchanted hilltop town would exist just for them.
They did add some wedding frills – hair stylist and beautiful rustic style flowers and a fun and fabulous photographer – Fabio to make sure their day would be recorded.
Of course every bride should feel they are the “only bride” on their wedding day – it was very important to Melanie to have a private space for their intimate gathering. At this point we were aware “the ‘rents” (taken from one of Ben’s message) were going to be flying out to Italy to join Ben and Melanie to celebrate with them.
There are People and there are Places
There was only ever one contender this was the jewel that is the Monastero Santa Rosa – a truly unique hotel with a story – it started out as a monastery and much later rediscovered, renovated and restored by an American philanthropist. I truly believe those who stay here create their own special connection with the hotel – a “once in a life-time experience”.
The day of the wedding it just could not have been more perfect, the personal ceremony, the sunshine, Ravello mindful of this special moment for our couple – was quiet – Fabio did his stuff even managing to send me some photos over WhatsApp. There was Prosecco toasts and beer steins on the piazza – sunglasses and happy faces a totally chilled celebration.
The evening at Monastero Santa Rosa that was the dream – our lovely couple were given full access to the venue for photos – their table positioned on a private terrace – beautifully decorated and the menu and wine a gastronomic delight. I cannot help think of the classic song “Some Enchanted Evening….”
And it didn’t stop there ….the next day Ben & Melanie returned to Monastero Santa Rosa for a lush and luxury spa experience a perfect way for our couple to relax and reflect on their Italy wedding experience.
A little help from our Friends
We got in touch with the newlyweds on their return to the UK – and we were very very pleased to hear in the couple’s own words how much they loved their wedding. We were also able to look back on the only blip during the wedding planning – a pretty big blip related to the documentation. Two documents were not accepted by the Ravello Town Hall which had the potential to prevent the wedding going ahead. At the time Ben & I agreed that we would not make the situation known to Melanie if we could resolve this situation. We were very lucky, although this happened 6 days prior to the couple flying out to Italy we had time to resolve this. The issue was related to the issue of Apostilles and how these were attached to the documents to be used in Italy.
Fortunately, we were able to save this particular wedding day with some fab teamwork from a local notary and an agency who offered an expedite service for the legalisation of documents – we delivered the corrected versions to Ben in person the day before he and Melanie flew out to Italy!
From this experience Accent Events Limited is now registered with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London. We are authorised to offer their premium service; we can go in person to the office in London to expedite the legalisation of documents. We have taken this step to help other couples who may find themselves in a similar situation or need to legalise documents at short notice.
We are just so very happy Ben & Melanie had their happily ever after!

“There is a very fine line between handing something off and losing sight of what you want, Gio ensured that this never happened and we both felt completely involved. None of that magic, as the bride, in making decisions was lost.”
