We have just had a few days away in Italy’s fashion capital – Milan.
You are probably thinking that was an expensive trip….not so at all. For just over £500 we had 3 wonderful days in Milan.
The reason we were in this amazing international city (which reminded very much of London) was to act as witness to one of Accent Events’ elope couples on Valentine’s Day.
Now that I am home and doing my financial admin I am pleasantly surprised with how much this trip cost so I am sharing with you how much three days in Milan cost just in case the romantics out there would like to plan a getaway or even a surprise proposal.
A week before Milan Fashion week probably helped with costs.
Best buys Milano.
We had plenty of notice for a trip and booked Ryanair from London Stansted to Milan Bergamo x 2 (with priority boarding and seat allocation) £161.96
Transfer bus from Bergamo airport to Milan Central Station x 2 10 euro
Metro ticket (Line 3) Milan Centrale to Duomo x2 3 euro (London take note!)
Accommodation 3 nights in a self catering apartment a few minutes walk from the Duomo with final cleaning and admin (we had to pick up the key from the rental office) 270 euro
Shopping for 3 days self-catering 63 euro
Meeting our happy couple and translator at a caffe on Piazza Duomo (drinks for 5) 21 euro
Cocktails at the Aperol Bar in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele (probably the most decadent thing we did) two cocktails, 2 beers and one acqua naturale 48 euro
Two cups of gelato 4 euro
Getting married in Milan.
If you are playing with the idea of a city wedding then Milan has several locations available for a civil ceremony.
Our Valentine’s couple chose the Palazzo Reale, just off the main Piazza – the cost for the civil ceremony for 2017 ranges from 500 to 596 euro. The wedding room is part of the museum and is located on the ground floor. There is a small ante-room before entering the impressive grand ceremonial room with beautiful chandeliers, a large wall tapestry and another of floor to ceiling mirrors.
