Villa Lazzareschi is a very beautiful and elegant villa in the heart of the tuscan countryside, in the municipality of Capannori. By the time you have read to the end of this blog post you may have just discovered your perfect tuscan villa.
Just before Easter we received a personal invitation from the very charming Alessandra Giussiani Lazzareschi, the owner – her name has a musical rhythmic cadence when spoken aloud – so we extremely upbeat and full of the joys of Spring to be meet Alessandra and to experience the fairytale Villa Lazzareschi for ourselves.
Our appointment was for 11.00am, we gave ourselves plenty of time to travel the narrow winding hillside roads which were almost totally free of traffic, passing between olive trees on either side of us and enjoying the far reaching tuscan countryside ahead.
I get such an adrenalin buzz doing this sort of venue visit, exploring new regions of Italy and the anticipation of who and what awaits our arrival. Flashes of a wedding mood board began to appear – I could see one of our brides being transported in a vintage Fiat 500, a petite bouquet in hand – in mano – wearing a 50s style wedding dress being followed by the photography team…venue visits are just so inspiring!
Villa Lazzareschi is to be found in Camigliano (Lucca) in the territory of Capannori which less than 10km from the famous walled city of Lucca. It is positioned along a narrow winding road that leads to the hamlet of Tofori. The Villa was built in the seventeenth century and has been completely renovated in strict compliance with the architectural regulations – this sense of authenticity and history adds to the magic of the villa.
The building and gardens are hidden behind the characteristic stone walls of a tuscan countryside villa. The grand wrought-iron gates provide a hint of the exclusivity and elegance that Villa Lazzareschi will grant your dream wedding in Italy. There is a central aisle leading up to the villa which is broken by a water feature and two side aisle to the left and right lined with palm trees. Beyond the water feature the view is completed by the main villa. A split stone staircase leading up to the three entrance arches is a subtle blend of old and new. Each arch has floor to ceiling glass which gives a modern and spacious feel without detracting from the classical look.
Wearing my creative wedding planner hat – I can so easily picture the terrace area where the two sides of the stone stair case meet for the civil or symbolic ceremony – doors open, the ceremony table decorated elegantly to compliment the interior – its a fantastic spot for saying “I do”.
Imagine your guests sitting prettily and more importantly comfortably on the terrace area, the sunlight filtered by the shadow of the nearby trees – given the length of aisle approach up to the villa the bride can choose how long her entrance will take – making the most of the processional music – perfect for capturing spectacular arrival photography, then ascending the stone staircase to join their beloved – the three arches giving a natural frame and focus. And once you are pronounced as newly weds – i sposi, to the congratulatory applause of your guests, to take in the enchanting tuscan hillside landscape – your naturally occurring wedding canvas.
Just look at this amazing reflection of the countryside – it’s simply breathtaking. Can you see yourselves standing against such a phenomenal scenic backdrop.
The exterior is impressive and the good news doesn’t stop here!
There is a spacious orangery for your wedding reception – located to the side of the historic villa, with its decorative marble floor it can be styled and decorated in your chosen style and colour – definitely bring all your wonderful ideas with you when you come to visit there is ample space to cast the styling wand or you can choose to go with the natural beauty of the gardens.
Inside Villa Lazzareschi the main reception room has classical features, it creates an more formal and elegant setting for the civil or symbolic ceremony -a room filled with monocolour floral decoration cyrstal candelabra – a perfect solution if the sunshine is intense or if the sunshines is on low volume with a few scattered showers! No matter what the weather conditions you and your guests will experience the history of the villa inside and outside.
To make the most of your week long stay at Villa Lazzareschi, why not bring all your guests together for a pre-wedding meal in the depths of the Villa’s wine cellar, it has oodlles of character and a less formal atmosphere, row upon row of wine bottles – add some subtle candlelight and typical tuscan cuisine – and you will be well on your weay to experiencing a gastronomic delight – further complimented by your host’s carefully chosen selection of wine – as Alessandra is a distinguished sommelier!
