Wedding in Cambridgeshire Spirit of Adventure Nicki Shea Photography

I recently introduced Cambridgeshire weddings to my service portfolio.  I am on the door step and know and love the surrounding villages and towns close to Cambridge and the surrounding counties and I am a massive fan of open spaces.

We have some of the most beautiful scenery, river ways and woodlands and a rich list of interesting venues to suit all tastes.

Don’t ask me why I am only just starting with Cambridgeshire weddings now, 11 years after I introduced Accent Events to the world as an UK based Italy wedding planner.  I guess the time is right.

An at home wedding can be as wonderful as going abroad and if you are unable to decide then I can offer planning in both Cambridgeshire and Italy – problem solved.

As Cambridgeshire weddings is a new venture for me, I recently planned two styled shoots to get things rolling.  These photo shoots served two purposes, much needed images for my website and inspiration to reach those couples who do not fit the white wedding scenario.

I had a fantastic time collaborating with Nicki Shea on a free spirit go-where-the-mood-takes-you concept for an elope couple which was shot at a farm in Willingham.

This evolved in to the “Spirit of Adventure” photo shoot and the location came courtesy of one of Nicki’s previous brides.

We had a great team of wedding creatives, amazing outside space as our canvas, a small plane and a horse and an amazing fake couple!  You can see the full story which was published on The Outside Bride wedding blog.

Nice to see you

It is amazing how one click to like an image on an Insta feed would lead to two small businesses like ours helping each other.  That is what happened with Nicki and me.  Nicki understood where I wanted to go with the shoot and in a few weeks we had all the key suppliers on board and were ready to roll.

Meeting in person is so important, it was key to the success of the shoot. As with my Italy wedding planning, I love meeting up with couples to get to know them and and with some many wonderful independent cafes and restaurants around Cambridge we will not only support other small businesses we will get to sample some very tasty treats too.

My bespoke wedding planning service is there for you when you’re short on time, have all the ideas and want the reassurance of an expert by your side. During our time together I’ll get to know you and what makes you tick, turning the things that really matter to you into plans, and being the voice of reason whenever you need it.

My goal is to take the pressure of a million decisions off your shoulders so that you can be fully present to connect with each wonderful moment that comes your way – both during the planning and the day itself.

Lisa & Rob

“As a busy working couple with stressful lives, it was clear that arranging a wedding on our own would be virtually impossible to cope with alongside the everyday stresses of work commitments… enter stage left Jo! From the off Jo took our rough ideas and formed them into what was for sure the best day of our lives.

Her calm demeanour on the day and the precision as to which everything happened ensured that the day went without a hitch. As a bit of a worrier, Jo gave me total confidence – I had nothing to worry about – all was in hand. Also, her ability to think beyond the brief at the tiniest of details was fantastic. Her suggestions, ability to negotiate a deal, and her total commitment to us as a couple was fantastic. Jo took what I would imagine to be something very stressful to arrange and made it fun – we had an absolute ball!”

You begin to wobble on your decision to get married in Italy when the response isn’t the full 100%.

The date doesn’t work,  important business trips, pregnancies, elderly guests, guests that don’t like flying, the reasons are many which often puts a damper on the wedding planning as the thought of celebrating without family and close friends is unthinkable.

There is a way to continue with the dream and that is to consider a dual location destination wedding.

How does a dual-location destination wedding work?

This is very much down to personal preference.  You can have a getaway intimate ceremony and reception in Italy and splurge a little and then have a huge party at home where all your guests can be present or vice versa.

If you have a high number of guests that cannot make your wedding in Italy, a small scale destination wedding can be so romantic and you can fulfil those dreams that Italy ignites for you.

On your return you have the option of doing something similar to the photo shoot and hire a large outdoor space in the country, tipis, varieties of street food, horse-box bar and your favourite live band at a time that will guarantee a full turnout.

The scenario could be that that you have a full turnout for your wedding in Italy which will impact your budget planning.

To help maximise budget there is the option of finding a venue that can accommodate a large majority of guests and host the ceremony and reception on site.  This avoids moving a large number of guests between locations.

If your dream venue is not licensed for a civil wedding then you can do the legal ceremony at home with two witnesses and parents and then have a highly personalised symbolic ceremony in Italy.

Advantages of a dual-destination location wedding

Managing your budget to fit the circumstances
Avoiding disappointment in either situation as everyone has the opportunity to be involved
Great story-telling for your photography
Arranging with your photographer to shoot in both location will give you continuity
Possibility of showing your Italy photography/videography at your UK party
Wearing your wedding outfits again!
