I have a beautiful villa wedding venue on Lake Como to share with you.
If you imagine your wedding taking place against the glamour that is associated with Lake Como then this family run boutique hotel is the ideal wedding venue.
on Lake Como
La La Laglio Land
Relais Villa Vittoria is in the small town of Laglio on the west side of Lake Como. Laglio has become become famous because it is where George Clooney has his lake side home that has been host to many celebrities.
Relais Villa Vittoria’s Story
Relais Villa Vittoria is a small hotel with an interesting and quirky history. In the early part of the 19th century the mulberry gardens were used for raising silk worms to produce high quality silks used to create luxury fabrics made in and around Como.
Today Relais Vittoria is a 12 bedroom chic villa hotel with beautiful terraces, swimming pool and restaurant Luci del Lago.
Villa Wedding Venue on Lake Como
Relais Villa Vittoria is a special wedding venue on Lake Como, it is possible to host both legal civil ceremony and reception at the hotel.
Depending on the number of guests (the hotel is best suited to an elopement or smaller wedding up to 40 guests), this is mainly due to the outside terraced spaces and the internal spaces in case the weather means that events have to be inside.
There are different location options for the ceremony.
The gazebo is the ideal secluded setting for an elope or wedding with less than 10 people. It can also be used as a romantic dining option in the evening for an elope wedding couple.
The lake view terrace under the pergola or on the grass.
The backdrop to all levels of the hotel is the view of the lake which looks amazing at anytime of day or evening. You can further decorate the pergola area with fairy lights, lanterns and candelabra.
When Plan B becomes Plan A
There are very strong interior spaces in Relais Villa Vittoria which can easily be transformed for both ceremony and internal dining.
This space can be used as a civil ceremony location or for internal dining as the view is still very much in play.

Arrive by boat
For your spectacular arrival moment Relais Vittoria has its own private jetty. If you are organising your own boat transport it is best to speak to the owner about this as there conditions of use for the jetty relating to the boat size and number of guests.
Jo and Mark wished to do give their guests a private tour of Lake Como for an hour and then return to Villa Relais Vittoria for dinner. I organised a private boat that picked up from the private jetty with some extra bubbly on board.
Even in August the weather can change in a matter of minutes and it became obvious that we were going to have make plan B became plan A. We made the decision to move the reception from the swimming pool terrace to the enchanting and magical set up in the Winery. It was almost as if this was meant to be giving the couple complete privacy.
It really feels like you are staying in a very exclusive home. I remember when I did my venue inspection prior to the wedding, the guests that were relaxing by the pool were welcoming and friendly and thoroughly enjoying their stay.
If you are thinking of doing something special as a surprise or just for your own indulgence you can arrange for a picnic basket with the hotel reception the day before to take with you on a walk or boat tour.
If you choose to stay in one of the elegant suites, you can also make use of the onsite wellness centre which has a jacuzzi, shower and steam room for relaxation and revitalisation.
It isn’t necessary to book all the rooms for your wedding day but if you wish to have complete exclusivity I would suggest that this would be best.
Jo and Mark chose to stay in Como along with their families. They choose luxury self catering apartments in the centre of Como to experience the nightlife. The travel time by road between Como and Laglio is only a 20 minute drive.
Como is very accessible as this region is served by three airports.
All airports run shuttles. From Bergamo Orio Serio you can also take a local bus to Bergamo Train station where it is possible to get a train that serves the east side of the Lake through Lecco on to Varenna.
It may still be too early to think about travelling but if you are thinking about your wedding in 2021 please get in touch if you would like to discuss options and would like to get a feel about how things are in Italy right now.
